Linda Delean excited to exercise her leadership skills at the high school level and help students grow.
“It is my desire that this year is filled with growth for our students,” says our new principal, Linda DeLean. She is looking forward to working with the staff of Redeemer to teach students how to be leaders in their own learning.
Mrs. DeLean has been involved with Christian education for more than twenty years, both as a classroom teacher and in administration as a vice principal. Prior to being at Redeemer, she was a part-time instructor in the Education Program at Redeemer University College in Ancaster. For the past decade, she has concentrated on leadership, special education, teaching gifted students, project based learning and fostering creativity and critical thinking skills in students.
She started her new role as principal of Redeemer on August 15, 2016. “I am so excited to work with students, families, teachers, and community leaders,” she admits. Mrs. Delean looks forward to “partnering with Christian parents and teachers to provide an education for Redeemer students that is rooted in a Biblical perspective and way of life.” She adds, “it is our mission to prepare young people for their future learning and roles, to give students guidance, and also space to develop their own faith convictions and worldview.”
A priority for Mrs. Delean this year is to “establish relationships in the school and community.” She says, she also intends to work with the staff to articulate our learning vision. Before the school year began she met with all staff members to get to know them. “I’m impressed with the staff–their deep faith, their sense of warmth and caring. Everyone is also very willing to help me learn about this school and the community,” she said.
Redeemer will introduce our new principal to the school community at our Fall Social and Orientation Evening on Friday, September 23 at 7 p.m. in the gym. Some of you many even know Mrs. Delean as she grew up south of Ottawa and is a Redeemer Christian High School alumnus.
