Beginning our 43rd year

Updated: May 12, 2023

Creating a school community that reflects the heart of Christ

The start of a new school year marks a beginning. There are different beginnings that students have probably faced before: going to a new school or church; attending a new camp or youth group; moving to a new town; and joining a sports team. At Redeemer Christian High School’s first assembly last week, we welcomed 54 new students, returning students and staff to a brand-new school year.

Often beginnings create mixed feelings. On a positive note, there is excitement, anticipation, and mystery. On a less positive note, there is anxiety, worry, and unease. It usually is not all positive nor all negative—but a mixture of both. One thing that is for certain is that it is not easy. There are times when it can feel lonely and awkward. If students are feeling like that now or at times during the year, they need to know that they are not alone and that it will be alright.

When we read our Bibles, we realize that showing hospitality and loving others is important to our Heavenly Father and he calls Redeemer to do this as well.

Matthew 25:24-36 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’”

Luke 10:25 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

Romans 15:7 “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

During the next couple of weeks this stage of newest will pass. It is temporary. It is our hope that new students quickly feel comfortable here. We will all work together to create a school community that reflects the heart of Christ.
