The Arts
at Redeemer
At Redeemer, we believe it’s important to help students become actively engaged in the world around them through innovative development of the arts. We offer engaging courses in Drama, Music, and Visual Arts.
Drama
Redeemer presents a drama production that involves many students. Students try out for acting parts, but are also encouraged to use their talents to help with set design and construction, costumes, lighting and sound, make-up and hair, props, and stage management.
Students in the drama production are eligible to receive an extra-curricular half credit.
Cappies Participation
Since 2011, Redeemer Christian High School has been part of Canada’s Capital Cappies, a city-wide high school drama Critics and Awards Program, sponsored by the Ottawa Citizen newspaper. The program uses high school critics to review high school theatre.
Music Opportunities
Music courses at Redeemer help students develop music literacy skills and give them an outlet for creative expression.
In addition to music classes, we offer opportunities for vocal and instrumental participation. We have an active choir and band who perform at various community events throughout the year.
Students in our band, which practices at lunch twice a week throughout the school year, can also receive a half music credit.
Visual Arts Development
Redeemer students learn to appreciate and create visual art pieces through the use of varied media – drawing, painting, sculpture, and design. Art helps them discover, experience, communicate, and express truth about their relationship with themselves, with others, and with their world.
