Introduction

This course emphasizes the creation and performance of music at a level consistent with previous experience. Students will develop musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis processes in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and analytical activities. Students will develop their understanding of musical conventions, practices, and terminology and apply the elements of music in a range of activities. They will also explore the function of music in society with reference to the self, communities, and cultures.

Students are evaluated on 1-3 of their choice of test pieces.

Within each 2 week block, students should be posting a song to edmodo and engaging in written conversation with their peers about the posted songs.

Christmas Concert

The Grade 10 Music class will be joining the other music class and various extra-curricular ensembles to present what we have been working on this semester. Join us in the gym at 7pm. Everyone is welcome!

Composition #1

Students will submit their good copies of their compositions to edmodo. Each instrument should be re-submitted.
