Redeemer Still Accepting Applications
The fall is always an exciting time of year, but especially for students. September, more than January, means the beginning of a brand new year full of fun and adventure. If your teenager is not excited about returning to school, ask him or her why. Does he feel lost in the crowd? Is she not connecting with peers? Does he feel he's falling behind but he doesn't know who to approach for help? Does she feel she is the only professing Christian in her class? These are all legitimate concerns, but every child deserves to feel secure, successful and happy in school. Redeemer Christian High School still has a few vacancies at every grade level. Contact us now if you would like a school tour, and a meeting with either our Principal or our Guidance Counsellor. Let us show you what a Christian education can do for your teen.
Beckie's Co-op Experience
Like all high schools, Redeemer provides opportunities for students to work in an environment that interests them, while earning credits toward an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Grade 11 student Beckie Manouchehri took advantage of our co-op program to see if she really did want to pursue a career as a veterinarian. "I've always wanted to be a veterinarian, ever since the age of four" said Beckie. "I completed my co-op hours at an animal hospital which was a fifteen minute walk from my house. I worked afternoons and some evenings at the clinic." Staff at the animal clinic started Beckie off with some of the more menial tasks, like mopping, stocking shelves, tidying the consult and surgery rooms, filing and sweeping. But as she earned their trust, Beckie graduated to more interesting tasks, including learning how to properly sterilize surgical equipment. "I was also allowed to observe and assist with appointments, including retrieving vaccines, restraining animals while blood tests were being taken, and even filling up needles with the correct amount of injection fluid." Beckie recommends other students try a co-op placement. "Co-op was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Take the opportunity while you can and you might just find your calling!"
